Movie Making Mania
Feb 28th, 2011 by Kiddie Channel

Must be the Oscar bug, but it seems Haris is even now making more movies. And even Mama is trying to get into the act by insisting that she should be credited as Executive Producer! Haha…

Whatever it is, Papa feels he shouldn’t yet quit his day job! ;)

A Digest Of Lost Months- Part II

April 2010

Alisha's Trophy April saw Alisha’s Sports Day- her first ever (if I recall correctly). For the first time , Papa attended an indoor sports day- in their school hall. It was fun as all the kids got prizes irrespective of who won- of course the actual winner got a bigger prize. They had events that involved the parents as well, so that was cool. Before it ended everyone got up and did that “dadadada” song- Haha- Can’t remember the title. You know the one that you have to mime with your hands the duck, chicken and something or other? No? Well… it was fun in any case.

Emily's New Skates As we were going to BSC quite a lot for blading, Aunty Mel decided to give the kiddies a present of their own personal rollerblades. Aunty Mel had bought hers earlier from Skateline, and so brought the kids there for their fitment one day. Only little Lisha didn’t get one as she was too tiny still :( Thanks Aunty Mel for saving Papa from having to buy them himself :)

May 2010

Meet The Parents Sessions May was pretty quite. The breakfast sessions continued of course save for those days that we ran late or Alisha didn’t feel like having any. The baby fishies also started dwindling in numbers as they grew fast and moved on to the big pond. We had a session at the Kindie for a parents-teacher review of the kids progress. Papa remembered Mama asking if Alisha was fitting in well and behaving, as she can be a bit bossy. The reply was classic- “They’re all bossy here!” It turns out that most of the kids were either the eldest or youngest, so were used to getting their way. Fortunately, it seems bossies cancels out bossies… haha.

Pressie For Haris Papa also gave Haris a special present for his very good placement in the school’s exams. It also served as an  incentive for the others to strive well. He got the Prime box set made up of Optimus and Jetfire. Yes… Transformers robots. He was a bit looking forward to the Decepticon Devastator set, but they ran out of stock of the big set and only had the small plastic models; as such it was the big badass Prime set. Mama did ask who actually the toy was for. Does the question need to be asked?

June 2010

June also saw us making a trip down south to Singapore- one of many for the year. This time it was also for Universal Studios. It was real fun for the kiddies even though it was very hot. Alisha surprised us by agreeing to ride on several rollercoaster rides- one in JP and the other in Far Far Away. The latter she did on her own without Papa or Mama, just with her siblings and cousins. Too bad the Battlestar Galactica ride was still non-operational (edit- read they recently opened), so I guess it’s worth another trip later?

Alisha celebrated her 5th birthday that June too. We had a combined party with Shafiq over at his place. Don’t they grow up fast?

Alisha’s Snaps
Feb 7th, 2011 by Kiddie Channel

Here are photos that Alisha snapped up. Thank God for digital camera’s. If you see a 5 year old girls with an Canon EOS system (bigger than her face), that’s probably Lisha. As she’s keen to repeat these days- “Canon. Delighting you always.”

Some photos were post-edited by Papa- gotta have my claim to fame, you know.

Alisha Goes To School
Jan 18th, 2010 by admin

So the Littlest One starts a new school this year. After having gone to Smart Readers last year (well at least for the most of it), and Papa not being all too satisfied with the ways things ran, we decided to place her somewhere new. This year will be her first formal kindie years (as opposed to play school).

Again, with much regrets we note that QIDS had moved quite a distance away many years ago :(

So, after that Sparkles Montessori (near SKSH) and where Emily and Haris went, was top choice. Problem was, we wanted somewhere that also starts to introduce to her some formal form of religious teachings. Only on the first day of school, in fact, was the choice of kindie settled. Talk about cutting it close!

After seeing to the siblings affairs on the first day, Mama wanted to show Papa one of the places nearby which she had checked out earlier- a quaint place running from a endlot house. Papa, wanting the last say, as always, decided to make a trip to TTDI. You see, Papa had eyed Tadika Diyana ever since Emily got to the Kindie age, but distance and transport had been an issue then (still is apparently). The only difference is Papa is more stubborn now, and insists that everything can be worked out.  So much for that one and only New Year’s Resolution… haha.

Lucky us, there was exactly 2 seats left only for registration. One for Lisha and the other for her BFF, Dina. So, we paid the registration deposit for both, with a promise that Dina’s mother would come along soon to fill in the details. It’s a package deal, it seems. Where one goes, the other must follow… both of no deal. That first day, she didn’t join in her class- it was bout late 10s when she arrived, and school was done at 1130. So she went around getting herself acquainted with the playground, the pond and the Pondok, the school grounds, but mostly the Playground.

Apparently, they let you try the place out for a week, before requiring registration. Very helpful. The 2nd Day, she went to school with Mama. The little tike refused to go in to class, as Dina was late. When Mama called Papa to inform on this, the only solution was to… yes, make a deal (not a bribe… a mutually agreed upon settlement). If she went to school that day, Papa would reward her with a gift.

“Lisha nak apa?” asked Papa.

“Papalah, beli. Surprise Lisha.” she answered, being very generous, in not stating the actual nature of the gift.

“Ok. But if you agree to go in now- without waiting for Dina to arrive, Papa will give you another present! Nak tak?” upping the ante, usually a big mistake, knowing my kids, especially the girls. They don’t see it as an “offer” but more as an invitation to bargain for more.

“Lisha nak four presents!” she opened her bid. Papa was lucky she didn’t start much higher. Still some ways to learn… gotta remember to keep her away from Emily.

However, Papa was extremely confident that he knows his little girl well- “Ok. Four presents, IF, you go in now. Without Dina.”

“Alaa… Lisha tak nak tunggu Na.” Checkmate! In truth, the checkmate could’ve been on Papa, had she easily maneuvered the play to be wait for Dina, and get more pressies nonetheless… haha. Lucky day for Papa, as her attention was all there that day. Phew!

P.S.- a certain father, got several call during the course of the afternoon for the purpose of “gentle reminders” as to the nature and timing of the presents to be procured. Deals, a deal my love- my choice on both counts. I did drop by the mall after work and got her something ;)
