A Digest Of Lost Months- Part II
Feb 23rd, 2011 by Kiddie Channel

April 2010

Alisha's Trophy April saw Alisha’s Sports Day- her first ever (if I recall correctly). For the first time , Papa attended an indoor sports day- in their school hall. It was fun as all the kids got prizes irrespective of who won- of course the actual winner got a bigger prize. They had events that involved the parents as well, so that was cool. Before it ended everyone got up and did that “dadadada” song- Haha- Can’t remember the title. You know the one that you have to mime with your hands the duck, chicken and something or other? No? Well… it was fun in any case.

Emily's New Skates As we were going to BSC quite a lot for blading, Aunty Mel decided to give the kiddies a present of their own personal rollerblades. Aunty Mel had bought hers earlier from Skateline, and so brought the kids there for their fitment one day. Only little Lisha didn’t get one as she was too tiny still :( Thanks Aunty Mel for saving Papa from having to buy them himself :)

May 2010

Meet The Parents Sessions May was pretty quite. The breakfast sessions continued of course save for those days that we ran late or Alisha didn’t feel like having any. The baby fishies also started dwindling in numbers as they grew fast and moved on to the big pond. We had a session at the Kindie for a parents-teacher review of the kids progress. Papa remembered Mama asking if Alisha was fitting in well and behaving, as she can be a bit bossy. The reply was classic- “They’re all bossy here!” It turns out that most of the kids were either the eldest or youngest, so were used to getting their way. Fortunately, it seems bossies cancels out bossies… haha.

Pressie For Haris Papa also gave Haris a special present for his very good placement in the school’s exams. It also served as an  incentive for the others to strive well. He got the Prime box set made up of Optimus and Jetfire. Yes… Transformers robots. He was a bit looking forward to the Decepticon Devastator set, but they ran out of stock of the big set and only had the small plastic models; as such it was the big badass Prime set. Mama did ask who actually the toy was for. Does the question need to be asked?

June 2010

June also saw us making a trip down south to Singapore- one of many for the year. This time it was also for Universal Studios. It was real fun for the kiddies even though it was very hot. Alisha surprised us by agreeing to ride on several rollercoaster rides- one in JP and the other in Far Far Away. The latter she did on her own without Papa or Mama, just with her siblings and cousins. Too bad the Battlestar Galactica ride was still non-operational (edit- read they recently opened), so I guess it’s worth another trip later?

Alisha celebrated her 5th birthday that June too. We had a combined party with Shafiq over at his place. Don’t they grow up fast?

The Kiddie Crew Celebrates With Emir His 1st Birthday Cake
Feb 20th, 2011 by Kiddie Channel

It was a hot hot day but the skies were blue and the wind was blowing. Perfect settings to celebrate a birthday.

cakeThe Kiddie Crew arrived fashionably late- thanks to Mama and her class, but we arrived just in time to catch the Birthday boy blow out his candles. Or rather… just the one. It was a elaborate cake both decorations-wise and the multi-coloured marble cake  itself. Yummy!

clown-businessSince it was a lovely day out, the party shifted outside to the grassy knoll by the pool. The Kiddies were at first a bit shy and didn’t want to join in the games, but later on Haris volunteered to be the Clown’s assistant during the magic show segment. For his trouble, he was made to ‘pee’ an unending stream of water out of a funnel, and had a panty pulled out his pants (a bit inappropriate for a kids birthday, but it was a bit of an inappropriate clown). Nevertheless, Aunty Meen made up for everything by lavishing Haris with pressies for being a good sport.

Of course, the star of the day was Baby Emir. Mama got to hold him for a while, and Papa snapped away. His face was full of expressions, and reminded Papa when The Kiddies were wee babies themselves. If only we had digital cams back then…

high-five

Happy 1st Birthday Emir!

Here’s the rest of the piccies from the day: -

Alisha’s Snaps
Feb 7th, 2011 by Kiddie Channel

Here are photos that Alisha snapped up. Thank God for digital camera’s. If you see a 5 year old girls with an Canon EOS system (bigger than her face), that’s probably Lisha. As she’s keen to repeat these days- “Canon. Delighting you always.”

Some photos were post-edited by Papa- gotta have my claim to fame, you know.

Piercing Tales
Jan 19th, 2010 by Kiddie Channel

Papa and the Kiddies went to BSC on Sunday morning, a favourite haunt again- to go roller blading. A quick stop at Sports Station to buy the protective gears for Lisha and Haris, then we made our way to the adjoining block. On the way we passed by a jewelry shop. On a whim, we entered and enquired as to whether they do piercing? Great, they did. We decided to get the play over and done with before having this done.

It wasn’t long after running around in Jungle Gym (no minders for her that day at the rink), that she grew impatient and wanted to get her ears pierced. After about an hour of play, we left the playhouse and went to collect her siblings who were having a ball moving in wide circles around the rink. Somehow reminds me of schooling fish in a large tank… hehe.

So in the shop, sat her down (excited face), marked the positions on the lobes (happy face), sprayed the local anesthetic (“Sejuk!” still very excited face), loaded the guns for a simultaneous piercings on both ears (Still smiling wildly).

Tak sakit adik, ok?” said the Ah Moi. Dang! Now Lisha is looking slightly less enthused. Must be that word- “sakit“.

“1… 2… 3″ prick…

Short pause… “Ow!” a muted complaint, more like an after thought.

Then the tears came! “Owwww!!! Sakit!” she made a production out of it for a couple of minutes. Refusing even, to look into the mirror, to her the temporary green-stoned stud she personally chose.

Then, Papa said- “Look Sha… they have Mickey Mouse earrings in the display over there.”

She paused mid-sob, looked up, continued the unfinished sob, then some more; but found enough time to gesture for Papa to pick her up and bring her over to see the “treasures”. In hindsight, was this just a ploy?

“Here’s also a full catalogue of the Disney range.” offered one of the shop-assistants. Hah!

She took it and began flipping. Crying ceasing into small sobs, and well-timed complaints that it still smarts. Drama Queen!

Walking out, she decided to milk it a bit more… “Nak cokelat! huhuhu…. ow sakit!” Of course, Papa was a sucker for the sobbing and tears.

“We go to Cold Storage and get choccies there, ok?”

“No! I want those chocolates…” pointing to Teuscher’s stall. Then the chorus of support came in- “Kakak pun nak! Haris nak jugak!”

A conspiracy I tell you. My kiddies ganging up on their poor defenseless Papa… now, it’s Papa’s turn to go “huhuhu”.

“Ok, go pick your choccies- but not too much.” Not too much turned out to be 8 pieces of various sizes and shapes.

“That’ll be RM90.” smirked the sales girl.

“Owww…. sakit….” the chorus started again. Perfect timing.

“These chocolates better be d*** good!” Papa uttered under his breath. (note- they were not extraordinary as the price demanded. RM11 a piece averaged! That’s a whole lot of private stash dark belgian chocolate that Papa will now have to forego)

Let’s have lunch now… and Papa proceeded to dial Mama’s number… The kids chose Dome. Papa remembered the damage from last time, and chose Chilli’s. Hey! The kids eat free!

Happy 1st Day Of School
Jan 4th, 2010 by Kiddie Channel

It’s 2010 already, wouldn’t you know it. The Dragon baby is nearly 10, and entering Primary 4 this year. That’s fast- like a blink of the eye to this old man. My babies are growing up. 10, 8 and 5. Haris is entering Primary 2, and Lisha her Year 1 Kindie.

It may be of some interest to note that even though they started school today, they only came back from their holidays the day before. Ye, papa packed them to go to Disneyland Hong Kong with their Aunty Mel and Emma, along with Shafiq. Only my little bunny got held behind cause Papa cannot let her go just yet. The holidaymakers went on the 31st- went to Times Square to see the fireworks. Spent New Year’s Day at Disneyland, and watched more fireworks. Went to Ocean Park the next day, and touched down back in KL, on the 3rd January.

It was the same old routine for the kiddies at SK Sri Hartamas- arrive late for school ;) , paid the school fees, bought the school books. After 4 years of this, it’s getting pretty easy. This year however, the kiddies got assigned classrooms of the top floor (sounds nicer than the 3 stories that it is)- so lots more steps to climb if Papa wants to see them during school hours. Lemme see, last year, some people forgot their bags and stuff, or forgot their pocket money, or wanted to go home because they were allegedly sick (funny how the ailments always seems to disappear the moment they get into the car). Papa has made enough appearances for some teachers to know who’s father he is… heck, it seems some of the mothers also know which children I belong to. Yes, the case of the famous (or is it infamous) children… not the parents. It’s not he or she is the son/ daughter of so and so, but he is the father of so and so… haha. Now, I’ve seen most everything.

Having done the rounds at SK Sri Hartamas, it was time to settle the little issue of registering Lisha for a Kindie. Oh! Yes, we’re playing if very late this time round… blame Mama.
