April 2010
April saw Alisha’s Sports Day- her first ever (if I recall correctly). For the first time , Papa attended an indoor sports day- in their school hall. It was fun as all the kids got prizes irrespective of who won- of course the actual winner got a bigger prize. They had events that involved the parents as well, so that was cool. Before it ended everyone got up and did that “dadadada” song- Haha- Can’t remember the title. You know the one that you have to mime with your hands the duck, chicken and something or other? No? Well… it was fun in any case.
As we were going to BSC quite a lot for blading, Aunty Mel decided to give the kiddies a present of their own personal rollerblades. Aunty Mel had bought hers earlier from Skateline, and so brought the kids there for their fitment one day. Only little Lisha didn’t get one as she was too tiny still Thanks Aunty Mel for saving Papa from having to buy them himself
May 2010
May was pretty quite. The breakfast sessions continued of course save for those days that we ran late or Alisha didn’t feel like having any. The baby fishies also started dwindling in numbers as they grew fast and moved on to the big pond. We had a session at the Kindie for a parents-teacher review of the kids progress. Papa remembered Mama asking if Alisha was fitting in well and behaving, as she can be a bit bossy. The reply was classic- “They’re all bossy here!” It turns out that most of the kids were either the eldest or youngest, so were used to getting their way. Fortunately, it seems bossies cancels out bossies… haha.
Papa also gave Haris a special present for his very good placement in the school’s exams. It also served as an incentive for the others to strive well. He got the Prime box set made up of Optimus and Jetfire. Yes… Transformers robots. He was a bit looking forward to the Decepticon Devastator set, but they ran out of stock of the big set and only had the small plastic models; as such it was the big badass Prime set. Mama did ask who actually the toy was for. Does the question need to be asked?
June 2010
June also saw us making a trip down south to Singapore- one of many for the year. This time it was also for Universal Studios. It was real fun for the kiddies even though it was very hot. Alisha surprised us by agreeing to ride on several rollercoaster rides- one in JP and the other in Far Far Away. The latter she did on her own without Papa or Mama, just with her siblings and cousins. Too bad the Battlestar Galactica ride was still non-operational (edit- read they recently opened), so I guess it’s worth another trip later?
Alisha celebrated her 5th birthday that June too. We had a combined party with Shafiq over at his place. Don’t they grow up fast?
So Papa thinks it’s only apt that he jots down some things that has happened (and he remembered :p) since the most significant last post. Just to let you kids know, Papa may not have written about it, but he remembers… he was aware. So, let’s see what tom foolery you kiddies have been up to
January 2010
The Year started pretty quietly, as two of the Kiddies followed Emma and Aunty Mel for a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. So it was Alisha’s opportunity to live the “only child experience”. Then school opened and it was back to school for Emily and Haris, who graduated to Primary 4 and 2, respectively. After settling them in, Papa and Mama rushed to Tadika Diyana, as we haven’t registered Alisha for any Kindie yet. Luckily there was 2 final slots for her and her BFF- Dina. So Papa registered them on the spot pronto. As it was already 10 ‘ish by that time, we decided for her to only report in the next day.
January is also a month for double birthday celebrations- Emma and Uncle Mi. And Alisha got her ears pierced for the first time (blogged earlier).
February 2010
February saw Chinese New Year and the traditional Lion Dances. Alisha wasn’t that scared this time round and we stayed to watch the Lion Dance at Plaza Damas. It was for a video shop that we never go to anymore cause Emily used to cry her head out everytime we went in before. We suspected the place had an unseen ‘resident’ at one of the corner walls- it was where she’d stare at whilst bawling.
We were at BSC a whole lot during 2010 for rollerblading. At one time, nearly every weekend. So much so that the people there knew Em and Haris by name. While the 2 siblings were enjoying themselves, Papa would have to baby sit Lisha at Jungle Gym for hours. It’s a serious gym replacement- running around after her. Luckily there were all these ‘distractions’ there… hehe.
Aunty Mel also introduced the Gang to Sunway Lagoon’s Night Park during Feb 2010.
March 2010
2010 saw Papa’s weekday morning routine as dropping Em and Haris at school (usually by 0730hrs), then off to breakfast with Alisha and Dina. We’d discover new places to eat every once in a while. It was hard to find a place that opened before 0800hrs. Most of the time, we’d be at Hiestand Bakers at Mont Kiara. If not it would be a toss up between Puteri and D’Cengkih in TTDI, Little Collins in Solaris, or buy soem kueh from the van outside Lembah Kiara Park and take a stroll inside. Feeding the baby fish, birds and turtles. Imagine a park full of joggers, and suddenly you spot a man in full office attires with two little girls in kindie uniform. That would have been us. We came to know some of the regulars to the park there as well. Of course, there was that Mak Cik who sold Nasi Lemak and kuehs near Presto’s.
2010 also saw Haris and Em in the same Sports House (hehe- Rumah Sukan). Em was also in the Cheerleading team that won Gold! Yeah! Baby. And Rumah Kuning also managed to become Champions for 2010 by a BIIIIG Gap.
Watch this space for a vid of the cheer team performance.
Yo! Yo! Yo! Listen up. This is a super special shout out for my boy who turns S-E-V-E-N today.
Happy Birthday Haris. May Allah bless and protect you always. May He guide you on this life’s journey and keep you on the Right Path.
We all love you so very much and are all very proud of you
Haris unfortunately is having to go through his term exams right now. One more day to go my boy.
We had a little joint celebration last Sunday, to celebrate his and Emily’s birthday- not forgeting Shafiq and little Lisha’s too. If Papa ever get his hands on a new card reader, he will upload the pics from that day.
Thanks to all friends and family who gave wishes, presents, and/ or graced us with their presence on that day. It made the day extra special for all of us. As an added treat- Opah could join in as she just got back from her long sojourn in the UK last week.
Let’s see… Friday night was good. It’s always good when you have ice-cream. We were munching at Haagen Dazs in Solaris (yes, again). Anyway, it was a good treat considering Mama and Papa had to endure terrible traffic jams to get home that evening (thanks to planned rally for the next day). So instead of going out at 8pm, it was more like 9:30pm before we headed out. Tired and sleepy as we were, it was all made good when the order came in. As a bonus, they made one wrong order, and so we got an additional treat for free. Yahoo! Papa shared a banana split with Lisha (haven’t had that in a long time).
After having our ‘chill’ (fill), we went for a stroll up the ‘boulevard’ (haha) to the ‘new’ sculpture-fountain. Despite stern warning, the kiddies started walking round it with their hand swiping water off the surface of the table. When admonished, Haris used the classic excuse- “But Lisha did it first!”. But one thing he can’t blame on Lisha- climbing the metal scaffolding next to the fountain. Boys will be boys.
Saturday morning saw Em and Papa picking up Emma, and going to Bukit Kiara Cemetery to ziarah Grand Dad’s grave. We went back to KJ, as Em wanted to play with Declan, or rather Declanie nowadays. Aunty Mel just recently found out that he’s a SHE! Haha… the name is still disputed, but we do love to tease her about it
We all had lunch at Tenji Solaris, and true to the Malaysian culture of trying to make a buck from everything- even my little Lisha who hardly eats anything- was charged RM20 (taller than 90cm). Emily ate at an adult rate- my tall soon to be 9yr old. Only Haris was to be correctly charged- 50%. Nevertheless, the food was made all the better by the company. For Papa, the best things about Tenji are down to 2 simple things: -
These 2 items alone makes the RM77++ per pax charge worth it. The fresh oysters didn’t taste all that fresh, but otherwise that would be another plus point. Emily had a grand time eating her favourite Salmon sashimi.
And what best way to top a good outing other than another ‘first’. Alisha out of a sudden decided she wants not only to follow Emma and Aunty Mel back home, but also to sleep over- WITHOUT MAMA AND/ OR PAPA. She never wants to be anywhere without either of us, if she had a choice. Papa’s little girl has grown up! This is a definite milestone. No more pampers over night, and milk only before and after sleep.
Last night, we called her and the only thing she requested for was for Papa or Mama to make her milk and send it over. Not to pick her up, but to send milk over. Unbelievable! Haha. Here’s to you my darling precious littlest girl- we’re so proud of you. And thank you Haris for looking out for her. Emily took the opportunity to be the only child again. We even went to check out the place we’re gonna have her birthday party- a change from the norm this year. Another little angel growing up so fast :_(
About a couple of weeks ago, a dear old aunt of Papa passed away. When Papa was much younger- around the kiddies age right now, he used to spend a lot of time over at that aunt’s place, whenever he was in Singapore. There were many fond memories. Sadly, the older Papa got the less chances he got to visit.
Well, Papa was at the Dusun that Sunday morning when he got the call that Mak Odah was at her death bed in the hospital. She was admitted the night before. Papa wanted to go, but he had some errants to run, while Emma was away. Later that afternoon, while on a short stop at Ayer Keroh, he got the call that she had passed. It was funny, that morning before he even got the fors call, Papa had this strange feeling of dread- of death, and he was feeling somewhat down, with everything that was going on.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, Aunty Rin went on behalf of the family with Kakak Siti. Papa thought about going on Monday, but thought it better to accompany Emma when she came back. Mak Odah was Emma’s elder sister. So yesterday morning Emma asked Papa if we could make the trip. So her we are.
Mama couldn’t follow as she had her exams today- hope she does well. The kiddies only found out about the trip this morning. Papa intended to go alone; but Emily, as always, got her way with her Papa. The other two were convinced that it was a better idea to stay in KL with Mama, as tonight there’s Aunty Meen’s open house and tomorrow is Baby Adam’s birthday party at Serendah.
Papa is a bit sad to have his other kids away, but at least they can keep Mama company. Haris was told he was the man of the house and he needed to take care of Mama and Alisha. He looked sad no to follow but took on the task Papa put to him. Good boy!
Papa was relieved that Alisha didn’t cry, because he wouldn’t have known what to do then.
Emily is at least having fun meeting up with her cousins Sara and Haziq. We arrived at about 12:30 after leaving KL at 9:30. Papa probably got at least 1 summons… haha.
We’ll be visiting the pusara tomorrow morning, as Papa is a bit unfamiliar with the new cemetary complex in Singapore, and need someone to guide him. Well, more tomorrow. Papa isn’t feeling very upbeat right now- there something troubling his mind…
